Mission Statement
The University of Colorado at Boulder Design, Build, and Fly team strives itself on providing a low pressure, fun, and educational environment for students of all ages and engineering disciplines. DBF provides the opportunity for students to use what they have learned in the classroom in a completely hands on environment for the purpose of building a remote control, electric powered aircraft to compete in the annual international AIAA Design, Build, and Fly competition. DBF allows more experienced students to take on leadership roles such as project manager, systems engineer, and sub-system team leads, while less experienced students take on supporting roles and spend their time learning design, manufacturing, and testing processes on a real problem. DBF team members learn and apply first hand knowledge of engineering processes such as wing optimization, stability/control, propeller driven propulsion systems, composite construction, and total system design integration.
